Welcome to mumura!
My name is Kristen and I am pleased to meet you. Mumura is a brain child of my last twenty years, traveling around the world, training as a sommelier, and becoming an accidental art collector. Mumura is a Māori word, and I first decided that I needed to create something around it after spending 11 days traveling the south island of New Zealand in a campervan. It means to be glowing, showing brilliant color. To me it represents creativity and growth.
I have chosen to create this space for you, dear reader, to digest and hopefully learn from some of my stories. I have spent the last 25 years traveling the world, living in Europe and Asia, working for large tech firms, and dreaming of owning a wine business. I studied wine with the globally recognized Wine Spirits Education Trust (WSET) while living in London. My certifications are through Level 3, and I may end up going back for my diploma. I studied with sommeliers of major restaurants in London, wine writers in Paris, and wine geeks like myself.
I have many stories, and believe that some of them may even be interesting and useful. Please indulge me and have a look around. Let me know what you think, and if there is anything you’d like to see more of.
With love,
Kristen
